EASTER and BOM Link

Hey All!

It's Spring, today is EASTER, and God's in His Heaven!  Thank You, Jesus, for the ultimate loving sacrifice You gave, so that we, poor sinners that we are, will one day be in Heaven with You, too!

I also wanted to share with you something that has me more excited than I have been in several years!

Kaaren at The Painted Quilt will be starting a Block of the Month quilt April 1!!!  No foolin', as she put it! :)  AND, as with all of her beautiful designs, it will be FREE!  She's named it "Happy Scrappy Spring."  Please check out all the details over at her wonderful blog.

It looks like it's a combination of patchwork, applique, and embroidery!  A little bit of everything to make me SO happy!  I love the checkerboard sashing, too!  I'm working on a counted-cross stitch coffee cup pattern right now that has a cream and brown checkered border around each cup.  So, this will be right down my alley! :)

Kaaren states this is not technically a BOM, but should be ROM (Row of the Month).  Check out her post for more yummy details.  If I really put my mind to it, I might be able to get this done in time for Christmas!

The Painted Quilt - Happy Scrappy Spring BOM
I will post my progress, keep your fingers crossed!

HAPPY EASTER !!!

God Bless!

HE IS RISEN!

It's a Glorious Easter Sunday!

Our Lord is Risen!

Jesus said...
"I am the resurrection and the life ,
he that believeth in Me,
though he were dead ,
yet shall he live!"
John 11:25

HAPPY EASTER TO ALL!

Better than paper towels

My MIL sent me this in an email and just had to share it with y'all!  I have no idea the origin of the email...you know how that goes! :)  If you created these wonderful hints, let me know and I'll give you all the credit!

Better than paper towels.

COFFEE FILTERS

Who knew! And you can buy 1,000 at the Dollar Tree for $1.00, even the large ones.

1. Cover bowls or dishes when cooking in the microwave. Coffee filters make excellent covers.

2. Clean windows, mirrors, and chrome... Coffee filters are lint-free so they'll leave windows sparkling.

3. Protect China by separating your good dishes with a coffee filter between each dish.

4. Filter broken cork from wine. If you break the cork when opening a wine bottle, filter the wine through a coffee filter.

5. Protect a cast-iron skillet. Place a coffee filter in the skillet to absorb moisture and prevent rust.

6. Apply shoe polish. Ball up a lint-free coffee filter.

7. Recycle frying oil. After frying, strain oil through a sieve lined with a coffee filter.

8. Weigh chopped foods. Place chopped ingredients in a coffee filter on a kitchen scale.

9. Hold tacos. Coffee filters make convenient wrappers for messy foods.

10. Stop the soil from leaking out of a plant pot. Line a plant pot with a coffee filter to prevent the soil from going through the drainage holes.

11. Prevent a Popsicle from dripping. Poke one or two holes as needed in a coffee filter.

12. Do you think we used expensive strips to wax eyebrows? Use strips of coffee filters..

13. Put a few in a plate and put your fried bacon, French fries, chicken fingers, etc on them.. It soaks out all the grease.

14. Keep in the bathroom. They make great "razor nick fixers.."

15. As a sewing backing. Use a filter as an easy-to-tear backing for embroidering or appliquéing soft fabrics.

16. Put baking soda into a coffee filter and insert into shoes or a closet to absorb or prevent odors.

17. Use them to strain soup stock and to tie fresh herbs in to put in soups and stews.

18 Use a coffee filter to prevent spilling when you add fluids to your car..

19. Use them as a spoon rest while cooking and clean up small counter spills.

20. Can use to hold dry ingredients when baking or when cutting a piece of fruit or veggies. Saves on having extra bowls to wash.

21. Use them to wrap Christmas ornaments for storage.

22. Use them to remove fingernail polish when out of cotton balls.

23. Use them to sprout seeds. Simply dampen the coffee filter, place seeds inside, fold it and place it into a zip-lock plastic bag until they sprout.

24. Use coffee filters as blotting paper for pressed flowers. Place the flowers between two coffee filters and put the coffee filters in phone book.

25. Use as a disposable "snack bowl" for popcorn, chips, etc.

26. Great in the tool room when separating nails and screws then use in to bottom of containers to remove moisture and prevent rust.

OH YEAH THEY ARE GREAT TO USE IN YOUR COFFEE MAKERS TOO

Take care and God Bless!

XOXOXO

Gooseberry Patch Books

I was on Facebook last night, just checking out what was going on.  I came across Gooseberry Patch's announcement of the winner of their Pinterest Contest.

It said, "Congratulations, Joy!" and I thought, "yeah, there are other Joys in the world, don't get your hopes up!"

I opened the link, and there was my Pin and picture!!!  I couldn't believe it!

"February 21, 2012

Congratulations, Joy!

Swirled Peanut-Butter Cheesecake Bars from Joy Burkhart!
Congratulations, Joy...check your inbox for our email! She'll receive a $50 Gooseberry Patch gift certificate...."

I was SOOOO HAPPY!!!

I started to check my email...sorted all of it by GooseberryPatch, but those were just the normal emails.  I started to get anxious that I may have deleted THE email by mistake!

I finally found the right one this morning, sent out the day before the Facebook entry, under a different email address @GooseberryPatch.  Boy, was I kicking myself!  Guess I'd better keep up with those pesky missives I've signed up for, huh?! LOL!

I can't wait to get the gift certificate!  I love the Gooseberry Patch books, got at least two, maybe three (can't remember for sure), from my MIL at Christmas last year!  Great crafting ideas and recipes, and now I can add to my collection!

Thank you so much JoAnn and Vickie! I'm one happy camper!!! :-))

Earth Wonders - BLUE

Our photo challenge this week at Ana's Earth Wonders is BLUE.  This is a photo of the Seattle skyline, which shows an oddity - a blue sky!  It's usually overcast, raining, misting, etc., etc., etc.!

I used one layer of Kim Klassen's textures - wonderful magic scripted.

Don't forget to add your photos to flickr!

Link up here or over at Ana's!!!
